Greetings to all Dear Brothers and Sisters,
I feel great pride to write a few words about a prolific writer and a contemporary scholar of history and culture of Eritrea who actually does not need much of an introduction. His name is Alemseghed Tesfai Voltaire, the famous French writer said, “To hold a pen is to be at war.” Though Alemseghed Tesfai might not be a great warrior at war in holding the guns and rifles, but he is a great warrior in holding the pen for the best use of it. Alemseghed is an outstanding and highly respected Eritrean scholar of wondrous literary gifts and of remarkable intellectual abilities. I have a high respect of him as a good friend and as a notable colleague in our literary profession. I am glade to relate with him as a humble author of books myself.
Among his many records of literary work, Alemseghed has published three wonderful books of history and culture of Eritrea starting from the 1940s to the 1960s. . His books are written in Tigrinya. The books are a must read books for all Eritreans. He is very articulate in seeking the positive merits of our cultural heritage and historical facts of the people of Eritrea. Alemseghed Tesfai, as a distinguished scholar, has made tremendous contributions to the survival of our history and culture. His professional qualification and rich work experience are augmented by his strong educational background and outstanding service to his country, Eritrea.
Dr. Gebre Hiwot Tesfagiorgis, a good friend of mine, has written a remarkable book review about the three wonderful books of Alemseghed Tesfai.
